Highlights from an inspiring roundtable held during the 8th International Argan Congress in Essaouira under the theme:
“Integrated Water–Agriculture–Ecosystem Management: Nexus Approach.”
We are proud of the participation of Mr. Aziz Afker (ANDZOA) and Dr. Quim Zaldo (CTFC – Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia), who shared their expertise and insights on the challenges and opportunities related to the sustainable management of natural resources in Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves.
Mr. Aziz Afker presented key lessons learned from the RES-MAB PRIMA project, highlighting the development of decision-support tools, innovative solutions, and new business models involving the private sector to strengthen territorial resilience in the face of climate change.
Dr. Quim Zaldo emphasized the importance of continuous scientific monitoring and meaningful data interpretation to better understand the interactions between water, energy, food, and ecosystems within the WEFE Nexus approach.
This roundtable highlighted the importance of international cooperation, innovation, and integrated governance in promoting the sustainable development of the argan sector and resilient ecosystems.
