As part of the outputs of the RES-MAB Project, and within the activities of the Dana Orchards Project, funded by the European Union through the PRIMA Programme, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) implemented four specialized training programs in the Dana Biosphere Reserve, targeting members of the local communities surrounding the Reserve.
The training programs aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of local community members and support their participation in sustainable practices and livelihoods linked to the natural resources of the Reserve. These efforts contribute to strengthening their capacity to adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
The four training programs covered a range of key topics, including:
- Modern water-efficient irrigation management, irrigation technologies, and the operation of irrigation systems.
- Agricultural product quality, food processing, and marketing.
- Sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices and soil management.
- Operation and maintenance of solar-powered pumping systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
Through the implementation of these training programs, the RES-MAB Project contributes to building the capacities of local community members, enhancing their participation, and promoting the adoption of sustainable agricultural and environmental practices. These efforts strengthen their knowledge and skills, support sustainable livelihoods in the communities surrounding the Dana Biosphere Reserve, and contribute to long-term efforts to conserve the Reserve’s natural resources.
