An international seminar on “Water Sovereignty in Morocco: from scarcity management to abundance management in the context of climate change and natural disaster risks” was held on April 10–11, 2026, at the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Ait Melloul. The event brought together a wide range of institutional and academic stakeholders, along with experts in water and environmental management. Mr. Afker took part in the seminar and delivered a presentation on the RES-MAB project. He highlighted its main objectives, ongoing activities, and its contribution to sustainable water and ecosystem management, particularly within the argan biosphere. The seminar featured in-depth discussions on the impacts of climate change on water resources in Morocco, as well as issues related to water governance. It also provided a platform for exchanging experiences and best practices in sustainable resource management. Key messages from the RES-MAB presentation emphasized the importance of promoting innovative and sustainable business models within biosphere reserves, adopting the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach, strengthening resilience to climate change and natural risks, and supporting local development through active stakeholder engagement. This participation reflects ongoing efforts to foster scientific dialogue and share knowledge on water and climate challenges, contributing to the development of sustainable solutions for current environmental issues.
