Led by the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), the RES-MAB Project is actively shaping the discussions at #WCBR2025, presenting Mediterranean-driven approaches to climate change adaptation in Biosphere Reserves.

At the session “Adapting and Transforming Biosphere Reserves to Face Future Challenges on Climate Change”, Dr. Mari-Carmen Romera (Project Manager) shared how seven Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves are contributing through:

Sustainable business models

WEFE Nexus-based solutions

Governance and decision-making tools

She underlined the importance of integrated, multi-sectoral collaboration to ensure long-term resilience and impact.

🔷 RES-MAB in Plenary & Thematic Sessions 🔷

🔹 Scientific Direction – Dr. Roser Maneja (Principal Investigator) emphasized the project’s scientific leadership and international cooperation.

🔹 Gender Capacity Building – Ms. Beni Rodríguez (Manager of Alto Bernesga BR, Chair of the Spanish BR Network, and leader of RES-MAB’s gender WP) presented progress in empowering women across Biosphere Reserves.

🔹 Networking & Innovation – Ms. Georgina Flamme (Director, Abertis Foundation & MedMAB representative) showcased how RES-MAB strengthens MedMAB members in advancing adaptation and resilience strategies.

🔹 Applied Solutions – Po Delta Biosphere Reserve highlighted the crucial role of WEFE Nexus-based approaches for wetlands and coastal areas.

💡 RES-MAB demonstrates how Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves act as living laboratories – pioneering climate responses, connecting science with policy, and driving stronger global collaboration.
